Tongue Point Mission Statement
We welcome eligible young adults, teach them the skills they need to become employable and independent, and place them in meaningful jobs or further education.

Tongue Point Goals:
We will provide a safe, supportive and positive community where everyone can experience personal growth and career opportunities. We value caring, respect, and integrity.

Career Development Services System:
CDSS is Job Corps. At Job Corps, we focus on our students at every stage in the process from recruitment to teaching them employability skills and job skills, to assisting them after they leave the Job Corps program. During the Outreach and Admissions stage, we work to provide potential students with accurate information about the opportunities we can offer them here. During the Career Preparation Period, we educate students about the Center’s vocational offerings, and assist them in making a successful career choice. The Career Development Period encompasses most of the time that our students are on center. We teach them vocational skills, assist them in developing social skills, make certain they have the academic skills they need, and provide them with opportunities for Work Based Training. As students prepare to graduate, they enter the Career Transition Period, where we help them to fine-tune their resumé and interviewing skills, and assist them with placement. After our students graduate, we follow up with them for up to two years, working with them to find placement, and checking in with them after placement. We work hard to follow through with our students so they can be successful.

Campus Highlights:
The Tongue Point Job Corps Center is situated on a former U.S. Navy Base that was built in 1939. In 1964, the facility opened as a Job Corps center. 540 students live in four dormitories on center. The center is the only one in the country to offer a seamanship vocational trade in the specialty area of maritime transportation, which is certified by the U.S. Coast Guard.
